NETWORTH / Positive Action is a Hudson Valley New York non-profit membership grassroots organization founded and maintained by persons living with AIDS/HIV. We promote and contribute to community education and awareness of AIDS care and HIV prevention on a local, national and international level of creative involvement.
Our difficult personal experiences of living with the virus are the driving force behind our eighteen plus years of community service and leadership for improved care, prevention and service delivery for AIDS/HIV issues. We have an award and attention-winning history of community planning, unique awareness campaigns, positive perspective documentation, outreach, referrals, care initiatives, youth prevention efforts, and minority services. We continue, based on funding, to step forward to help educate, support, and create a difference of AIDS/HIV awareness for the better.
NETWORTH is acknowledged for leadership in providing services, prevention and building awareness of needs by using for education the demands the virus places on our families and members’ lives. Through community support, we are able to create an umbrella of hope and help open to those most in need. This virus, despite scientific progress, continues to make inroads amongst our families and friends year after year. Now, after twenty-five years of AIDS in America, fear has turned to apathy. The majority of those we help have AIDS rather than HIV and we are less visible and struggling well below the poverty level.
Since 9/11, we depend on private donations and small grants to operate rather than federal or state money. Our emergency funds are provided to individuals in need with AIDS in both urban and rural pockets of the Hudson Valley.
Donated funds help us to continue our “Quality of Life” services as well our awareness education and prevention efforts. For persons with HIV and AIDS, our programs help meet individual daily needs ranging from nutritional supplements, organic produce programs, pet expenses, pet expenses, transportation, and in-hospital care.
Now in 2007, we have a dramatic shift — to improve evolving needs for those most victimized by poverty and compounded illnesses. The impact of rural isolation is clear for many of those we serve are often left feeling abandoned or burdened with the stress of struggling to manage and even to survive.
Our limited interventions and efforts are only a reality with your meaningful concern and support. Please know we sincerely thank you, for anything that you can do to help us continue our essential efforts in these most difficult times.
